Looking After Your Pine Furniture - Top Tips

Tuesday, May 18, 2010 Michael

Pine furniture is a popular choice of furniture in the UK and features some of our best selling ranges at Pinesolutions. Pine is a naturally soft wood native to the Northern Hemisphere, and just like any other wood which is used for furniture, it requires care and maintenance to ensure that it remains a quality piece of furniture. Here are the Pinesolutions top tips for looking after your pine furniture:

- Never place your pine furniture next to a radiator or in full view of direct sunlight. The wood will reduce in size when it is exposed to heat which can cause the wood to crack.
- Do not place any hot or cold items directly onto the surface of the wood. Use a place mat and coasters to place hot plates and cold drinks onto.
- Any spills should be cleaned up immediately with a clean/damp cloth. Do not rub the spill as this will spread the spill to other areas of the wood. Carefully blot the liquid allowing the cloth to soak it up.
- Keeping your pine furniture clean is essential. Use a dust cloth to wipe the surface of the furniture at least once a week. Avoid using oil based polishes or aerosol sprays as these can remove the natural characteristics of the pine and give the wood a sticky finish.
- A block wax (unperfumed) can be used to re-treat the surface of the pine by rubbing the surface of the pine every 2-3 months. Apply the wax to the whole furniture once a year.

A little care and maintenance can go a long way in prolonging the character and beauty of your pine furniture. Visit our full range of Bedroom, Living Room and Dining Room pine furniture.
